Dodge Repair: Cant exit car from rear seats: PT Cruiser, rear doors, back doors

I bought a cruiser and now it will not pass inspection due to the back doors not being able to unlock from the inside ... please help

What is the year model of the PT Cruiser?
The Cruiser does have a child protection rear door lock safety 'feature' that allows you to DISABLE the unlatching of the rear doors by using the mechanical handles to do so. Do you have the owner's manual that tells you how to turn 'on' that feature and how to turn it 'off'. My shop manual for '02 doesn't give the detail. If you don't have an owner's manual then go to a dealership and ask them to show you how to disable the child rear door lock feature.
Did the state licensing inspector tell you about that feature?
