Dodge Repair: 05 Grand Caravan SXT: code 0305, grand caravan sxt, noid light

Question
Hello Roland,

My wife's 2005 Grand Caravan SXT 3.8 L started misfiring badly last week.  took to Autozone, got codes 0032, 0138, 0205, and 0305.  Rear o2 sensor was replaced recently, have not yet replaced front o2 sensor.  Did some diagnostics with fuel pump (pressure is to spec), noid light (cylinder #5 fuel injector not getting power).  started tracing wires and found about half the wires to the fuel injector were bare in one location near the pigtail at the coil pack.  Wires do not appear broken, just the insulation.  Have not checked yet for continuity of the wires.  Could these bare wires have shorted out the PCM?  If so, can it be reprogrammed or will I need to purchase a PCM?  I really don't want to take it to a dealer unless absolutely necessary.

Thanks.

Answer
Hi Mike,
I doubt that the shorted wires would damage the pcm because these are low current circuits and the normal operation is basically that the pcm grounds one end of the injector coil and the other end is connected to 12V from the ASD. So I don't believe you will find and such damage. Repair of the insulation will probably resolve the problem.
