Dodge Repair: 98 intrepid wont start when warmed up, shaft sensors, odometer mileage

Question
QUESTION: Hi Roland:
I have a 98 intrepid that starts but if I turned off it won't start back again it just tries to start but it won't and I noticed that the rpm gauge niddle wont move but if I wait 4 to 5 hours starts no problem but if I turned off it won't start back have to wait again hours allready change cam & crank shaft sensors I read it in one of the posts but no luck still the same.Hope you can help me thanks

ANSWER: Hi Lupe,
Did you try for fault codes using the ignition switch? "On-off-on-off-on and leave on" doing that in 5 seconds or less elapsed time. Then watch for the odometer mileage reading to be  replaced with 4-digit numbers preceded by a P. Let me know if you get such a number.
The other part which can fail such as to produce a no/hard start is the exhauxt gas recirculation valve, located under the throttle body region on the intake manifold. If it doesn't close tightly when you pull up to a stop sign or shut down the engine, but rather stickes slightly open, it can cause a too lean mixture to sustain an idle or start up. So you might do well to remove that valve which has a small exhaust pipe coming to it from the nearby exhaust manifold and a pipe that branches off to the intake manifold. You can clean out the passages and the valve opening/mechanism proper from exhaust crud which builds up inside and slows the movement of the valve and valve stem. Clean that out and see if this helps.
Also, clean the throat of the throttle body and both sides of the throttle plate, and the idle air side passageway.
Let me know if you get and fault codes.
Thanks for the rating and nomination.

Answer
Hi Lupe,
Sorry to be delayed, my connection to the internet failed for 3 hours. I am wondering which engine (L) you have as there is a detail about the installation of the cam sensor that you may not have been aware of. So let me know that. I can also give you the wiring connection between the sensor plug and pcm plug so that you can verify that your wires are patent and that they are not shorted to ground or to a stray voltage source.
