Answer
Hi Jimmy,
The oxygen sensor upstream may be defective in one of several ways, the throttle position sensor could be defective in one of several ways, the MAP sensor could be defective, the engine coolant sensor may be inaccurate, the fuel pressure could be too high, there may be a mechanical problem with the engine, or even the powertrain control module could be defective. There is a 14-step diagnostic procedure to sort out these possibilities, some of which you can do by visual inspection or by a voltmeter. I would start at the oxygen sensor and then go through the list and visually inspect the wiring and wiring harness for each. Do you have a voltmeter? I can copy the pages from a CD that lists the steps and attach them to an email I would send to you directly. To do that I need to know your email address and the only way for me to get that is for you to ask me a NEW question, mark the box to make it PRIVATE, and then tell me the address in the text area of the question. If you don't follow that instruction exactly then the address will get erased so I won't know what it is. Also tell me which engine it is that you have (L). Also tell me if this is sedan/convertible or a coupe body style.
Please 'rate' my answer,
Thanks,
Roland
Sorry for the delay but I just found your question in the 'pool' to which it had be referred by Kevin.
