Dodge Repair: 2001 Dodge Stratus 2.7L wont start, 2001 dodge stratus, dodge stratus

Question
A couple of days ago the 01 Dodge stratus stopped starting. At first, I tried the turn off turn on turn off trick and it work. However, later that day it didn't work anymore. The car is sort of fluttering and kicking back when accelerating. It revs at the stop light. We checked the fuses, all is well, and the battery is well. Also, we replaced the spark plugs and it still doesn't start. The fuel line has gas running out of it when we took it off the pump. I keep hearing different options like the alternator or coils or even computer board, but these people arent mechanics. Do you have any ideas of things I could test to whittle it down to the problem?

Answer
Knowing what fault codes that may or not be in the engine controller would be a good place to start. You can retrieve them yourself by cycling the key in this way, ON-OFF-ON-OFF-ON and leave on. Look at the place in the instrument cluster where the mileage is displayed, if there are any fault codes they will be displayed there. The format is a P followed by 4 numbers, such as P1234. Record what you see and perform the procedure again to verify the previous results. Repost your question with the results and I'll do my best to steer you the right direction.
