Dodge Repair: transmission in limp mode, spark plug wires, p0420 code

Question
QUESTION: I have a 2001 dodge Dakota with a 3.9l v6 and a 42 re auto transmission. The truck has 200,00 miles on it. I had the engine rebuilt at 170k and just had the transmission rebuilt. However, after installing the transmission the truck will run decent on flat services but up a hill it will only go maybe 35mph with a max rpm of 3500. I checked the fuel pressure and it is at 49psi which is within specifications. I took the transmission/truck back to the shop and they replaced the valve body, the governor pressure and the transducer. I then got a p0301 code and I changed the spark plug wires, cap and rotor and the spark plugs. That code went away and now I have no codes but transmission continues to go into limp mode. In the past I have had an intermittent p0420 code, can the catalytic convertor be the problem?

ANSWER: Firstly, the 42RE transmissiion does not have a limp-in mode. Second, the dtc P0420 is a catalytic converter DTC that usually indicates that the cat has failed. Replacing the cat should correct the problem.

QUESTION: Thank you for the quick response. will have the cat changed, in CA so will have to go to the shop due to emissions. My question is so that a clogged cat can make the engine run that badly: up a hill stop accelerating at 35mph and tach out at 3500 rpm? I have been looking up on the Internet for answers but no one seems to have the same problem,

Answer
Thank you for the comment you posted, I appreciated it. But I missed on thing when I posted my anser. I neglected to ask if the transmission was shifting normally and most importantly, does it downshift while climbing a hill and you have the loss of power?
