QUESTION: Sorry, this is a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500.

I have a gear shift on the column and I need to removal the cable.  How does the cable detach from the gear shifter?

Answer
REMOVAL
Shift transmission into PARK.
Raise vehicle.
Disengage cable (1) eyelet at transmission manual shift lever (3) and pull cable adjuster out of mounting bracket.(Gearshift Cable at Transmission - RFE)
Lower the vehicle.
Remove the dash panel insulation pad as necessary to access the gearshift cable grommet (2).(Gearshift Cable at the Dash Panel)
Remove grommet (2) from the dash panel.
Remove any steering column (1) trim necessary to access the gearshift cable (2) and BTSI mechanism.
Disconnect the BTSI wiring connector (5).
Disconnect cable at lower column bracket and shift lever pin and pull the cable through the dash panel opening into the vehicle.(Gearshift Cable at Steering Column)
Remove gearshift cable (2) from vehicle.
