Dodge Repair: 1997 Dakota blower, passive restraint systems, blower motor resistor


Question
I have a 1997 dodge Dakota the blower motor works at times but not always my problem is I can not locate the blower or blower resistor. When the blower works it works on all speeds so I suspect a loose connection I have taken a lot of screws out of the dash but I'm not getting anywhere   ---HELP----                winter is coming

BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR
REMOVAL
Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
Remove the cowl plenum cover/grille panel. See Vacuum Reservoir in this group for the procedures.
Reach through the cowl plenum access hole Blower Motor Resistor Remove/Install to remove the two hex screws that secure the resistor to the plenum panel.
Pull the blower motor resistor and its wire harness out of the plenum panel and through the cowl plenum access hole far enough to reach the wire harness connector.
Unplug the blower motor resistor wire harness connector.
Remove the blower motor resistor from the cowl plenum.
INSTALLATION
Plug in the blower motor resistor wire harness connector.
Install the blower motor resistor to the plenum panel by feeding the resistor and wire harness back through the cowl plenum access hole.
Install and tighten the two screws that secure the resistor to the cowl plenum panel.
Reinstall the cowl plenum cover/grille panel. See Vacuum Reservoir in this group for the procedures.
Connect the battery negative cable.



BLOWER MOTOR
WARNING: ON VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH AIRBAGS, Refer to PASSIVE RESTRAINT SYSTEMS BEFORE ATTEMPTING ANY STEERING WHEEL, STEERING COLUMN, OR INSTRUMENT PANEL COMPONENT DIAGNOSIS OR SERVICE. FAILURE TO TAKE THE PROPER PRECAUTIONS COULD RESULT IN ACCIDENTAL AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT AND POSSIBLE PERSONAL INJURY.

REMOVAL
Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
Remove the instrument panel assembly from the vehicle. Refer to Instrument Panel Systems for the procedures.
Remove the heater-A/C housing as described in this group.
Remove the heater-A/C housing cover as described in this group.
Remove the blower motor housing cover as described in this group.
Remove the three screws that secure the blower motor and blower wheel assembly to the heater-A/C housing Blower Motor Remove/Install
Pull the blower motor and wheel assembly out of the heater-A/C housing while feeding the blower motor wire harness, grommet and connector through the hole on the other side of the heater-A/C housing.
Remove the blower wheel retainer clip and remove the wheel from the blower motor shaft Blower Motor Wheel Remove/Install
INSTALLATION
Press the blower wheel hub onto the blower motor shaft. Be sure the flat on the motor shaft lines up with the flat inside the wheel hub.
Install the retainer clip. The ears of the retainer clip must be over the flat surface on the motor shaft.
Feed the blower motor wire harness connector through the grommet hole inside the heater-A/C housing.
Pull the blower motor wiring through the hole from the outside of the heater-A/C housing, while positioning the blower motor and blower wheel assembly inside the housing.
Install the three screws that secure the blower motor and blower wheel assembly to the heater-A/C housing and tighten to 2.2 N·m (20 in. lbs.)
Install the blower motor housing cover as described in this group.
Install the heater-A/C housing cover as described in this group.
Reinstall the heater-A/C housing as described in this group.
Reinstall the instrument panel assembly in the vehicle. Refer to Instrument Panel Systems for the procedures.
Connect the battery negative cable.
