Dodge Repair: Blend Air Door Removal and Installation, panel component, airbag system

QUESTION: Do you have to remove the dash to remove the blend air door on a 2006 Dodge 1500 PU?  How do you remove the blend air door unit?

QUESTION: My heat and A/C work however, the force of air that blows through all the vents, floor and defrost has not force.  When you turn it on high, it blows like the fan is only on the second setting.  Also, when it's on high, it is very loud in the dash and in the summer when you open the glove box, there is cold air blowing out.  I was told by a dealership that the bled air door was probably stuck in the down position and very little air was passing through.  When we took the glovebox off and looked at the blend air door, it was broke, at the part that should rotate to different positions.  We were able to pull the "door" itself out of the whole unit, we purchased a new unit and realized that you purchase the whole thing, not just the part that was broke.  We will have to install the new one when we have more time, I understand its 4-5 hours. We put everything back together (minus) the "door" and it blows great even on the lowest setting. (like it did when it was brand new)

ANSWER: u need a rec door not a blend air door. This door allows outside air inside  or makes the air already inside move around. They brake all the time on an 06. U can remove just the dash and not the box to replace this. Need that instructions?  take u half a day.

REMOVAL
WARNING:  Disable the airbag system before attempting any steering wheel, steering column, or instrument panel component diagnosis or service. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative (ground) cable, then wait two minutes for the airbag system capacitor to discharge before performing further diagnosis or service. This is the only sure way to disable the airbag system. Failure to follow these instructions may result in accidental airbag deployment and possible serious or fatal injury.  



 
1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the glove box from the instrument panel (Refer to 23 - Body/Instrument Panel/GLOVE BOX, Instrument Panel - Removal) .
3. Remove the passenger side cowl trim panel (Refer to 23 - Body/Interior/PANEL, Cowl Trim - Removal) .
4. If equipped with dash mounted audio amplifier, remove the instrument panel assembly (Refer to 23 - Body/Instrument Panel/PANEL, Instrument - Removal) .
5. Remove the two screws (1) that secure the recirculation door actuator (2) to the inboard side of the HVAC air inlet housing (3).
6. Remove the recirculation door actuator from the air inlet housing and disconnect the HVAC wire harness connector (4) from the actuator.

7. Disconnect the HVAC wire harness lead (1) from the blower motor (2).
8. Remove the HVAC wire harness lead from the two wire harness retainers (3).
9. Remove the three screws (4) that secure the blower motor to the bottom of the HVAC housing (5) and remove the blower motor.



 


NOTE:  Illustration shown with air inlet housing removed from the HVAC housing for clarity.  

NOTE:  The actuator coupler is retained to the recirculation-air door by three integral retaining tabs located inside of the air inlet housing.  
10. Using pliers, carefully pull the actuator coupler (3) located on the inboard side of the air inlet housing (2) straight out of the pivot shaft of the recirculation-air door (1).
11. Reach up through the blower motor opening in the bottom of the HVAC housing and remove the recirculation-air door from the air inlet housing. Rotate and tilt the air door as required for removal.
