Dodge Repair: 5 heater core failures, heater cores, cant answer

Question
QUESTION: Hi.

I own a 2003 Ram 1500 Quadcab 4WD w/ the 4.7L engine.  I am now on my FIFTH heater core, waiting for it to be installed because they are on back order.

First one was replaced Feb/2007.
Second July/2008.
Third Nov/2008.
Fourth Jan/2009.

This latest one didn't even last 60 days!  What is going on with these heater cores that fail so often?  The last one was a dealer part.  The replacement cores are $150, but labor is killing me at $500 a pop.  Anything I can do to get a beefier heater core?  It's obvious the ones I've had had either defects something else is going on.  The dealer nor the shop that is replacing them has any idea.  We are getting the run around from the dealer because they don't want to cover the labor.  Because this latest failure was within 90 days, the labor is covered.  The problem is a rental is costing me a couple hundred $.  I'm looking for *why* they are failing.  Nobody seems to have any ideas.

Any ideas?

Thanks!
L

ANSWER: sorry  I cant answer why a heater core fails as much as yours has. if they are dealer parts  they have a 12 month 12k warranty on them so why are they giving u a hard time?  are u not letting the dealer taken care of it or are u just getting the part from them   plus  is it the same people putting it in  and they charge u each time fr it??  So u have spent 3200 on this prob and have not gotten it fixed? Some thing does not seam right here about this.

---------- FOLLOW-UP ----------

QUESTION: No, I've bought 3 heater cores and paid for labor on 2.  The 4th and now 5th will be covered under warranty.  But the labor on the 4th was not but the 5th is because labor is good for 90 days.  This is day 52 or something like that.

Of course something is wrong here.  That's why I posted the question.  But nobody has any clue.  Neither the dealer nor the garage has any clue why its occurring.

The part is from the dealer and the replacement is a third party garage who has replaced all of them.

Answer
well that answers half of the prob with there. the shop U are using either A does no know what they are doing to install it and is damaging it when they put it back or something. I work for a dodge dealer and have never seen this b4 1 bad one yes   not 5 though. The only factor that is the same is the shop that U use.  If u get it done at a dealer the parts and labor are covered by Chrysler for 12 months 12k miles  there should be no need to pay for a failed part especially if u use a mopar part. I have put in about 5 heater cores in the DR trucks  and non of them have come back to this date. All mopar parts   the odds of a mopar part that does not have any moving parts fail 5 times   U should be in the guinness book of word records.
Contact me via email  this is most interesting  I think u are owed back some money  on this.
