Dodge Repair: 97 Dodge Caravan, dodge caravan, check engine soon light

Question
Hi, i recently bought a 97 dodge caravan from brother in law.  the lifters are making some noise (not too bad but annoying)  i got an oil change on the van and they got even noisier.  i have had several mechanics tell me not to pay the money to fix as it is too costly and will not hurt anything, basically i have been told "its just a noise and nothing to worry about"  what would be your opinion on that?  in addition my check engine soon light came on and everything seems to be working fine. is this something to seriously look into or is it a dealer scam to get their cars serviced more often?  i appreciate all your info you can provide

Answer
hehe  well  first of all the check engine light is nothing to do with dealers  thank your fed government for requiring a check engine light and the standards to which they come on. U will need to have some one out a scanner or it for the code and see what it is.   There is some stuff called valve medic  about 3-4 bucks u can get it at an auto parts store  it clears up the lifter noise for 6 months or so. I put some in my mothers van and quite now.
