Hi- here is my scenario-this is a 2.4L se model-150K miles. Car won't start. No codes to identify issue from a mechanic i've used for years.He had it 3 days Happens again, towed to mechanic closer to ome that we used recently, who is good too.(figured since 1st mechanic had not figured it out a second opinion would be good) They said code found was for the fuel pump and they replaced it. 2 weeks later, it won't start again. I Saw an answer on line in a car forum where you turn key over 3 times and car may start. Tried that, and car started, but then dies out. It would "flutter" and gas pedal accellaration did not hold idle.Had AAA tow guy come out and he saw this exact symptom and said garage should see the eror code.At the garage, where I had the pump replaced, car starts for him on several atempts, no code to check. My  wife picks up the car and on her way home, she says car tach jumped wildly but car lost power to a crawl. Restarted the car and drove it home. Frustarated to say the least. I also want to mention I had catalytic converted replaced about 2 months ago- by the fist mechanic-just mentioning that in case it may have an impact. Any ideas? Car has high miles but is exceptionally clean.Thanks for your time and consideration.

first of all there is no such code for a fuel pump they blew smoke up your butt for that one.  I cant really give much   it could go in any direction  from fuel,spark electrical    with out being able to give a better idea  of how it will not start  it can go in any direction.
