Dodge Repair: 96 Neon alternator installation, pivot bolt, dodge neon


Question
I have a standard 96 Dodge neon that needs a new alternator put in. What is the best way to do this? Is there a way to do this from the top or the wheel well or do I need to jack up the car and get underneath?

GENERATOR
REMOVAL
Disconnect battery negative cable Removal/Installation of Battery Cables
Loosen but DO NOT remove the generator adjustment nut.
Raise vehicle with front wheels turned fully to the right Wire Terminal Connection
Remove the plastic lower splash shield.
Disconnect the generator field circuit wiring connector Wire Terminal Connection
Remove the B+ terminal nut and wire.
Loosen pivot bolt, but do not remove Generator Front View and Generator Rear View
Remove the generator drive belt. The generator spill shield does not need to be removed.
Remove three mounting pivot bracket bolts.
Remove pivot bolt and bracket.
Holding the generator in one hand, remove adjustment nut and slide the generator off the T-bolt. The T-bolt does not need to be removed.
Lower the generator and remove through the wheel well.
INSTALLATION
For installation, reverse above procedures. The generator field connector has a locking tab and will snap when fully installed. Refer toooling System, Belt Removal/Install Adjust. Tighten all fasteners to the proper torque. Refer to the Torque Specifications chart in Group 8A, Battery/Starter/Charging Systems D
