QuestionQUESTION: I have a 2003 Dodge Neon SE with an automatic transmission. Just recently my transmission went out and I am in the process of finding a new one. However, I have been asked if my tranny has an external or internal neutral switch. My tranny type is a 41TE. Do you know if it is external or internal? And if not, where would I locate this switch on the car to find out?
ANSWER: ahh your tranny has neither there is not a safety switch on there U have shift interlock system where u need to press on the brake in order to move the shifter. WHat is the prob ne way??

QUESTION: Bare with me...it is hard to explain. :-) For a couple of days there were times that it would down shift very hard from 2nd to 1st. Then all of a sudden I was driving down the road going 35mph and my MPH guage started fluctuating. So I slowed down and that is when my engine light came on and the guage was not reading. So we pulled over and checked the car and couldn't find anything. I drove it home going 20mph because it wouldn't shift from 2nd to 3rd. We left it sit for several hours that night and then later took it out for a test drive and everything was fine. It was shifting smooth! The next day drove it no more than 20 miles and it did the same thing however this time it wouldn't shift from 1st to 2nd. My dad looked over it and changed the tranny fluid and filter and he said that the fluid was burnt and chunky. After he changed everything he took out on the highway it drove smooth. A day later it did the same thing. So what we can't figure out is why it will run smooth one minute and then not be able to shift the other minute? What are you suggestions?

QUESTION: The MPH guage was not reading how fast I was going. It would sometimes just jump all over the place and then sometimes it would be at 0mph when I was moving.
I am not sure what engine light code you are talking about. How can I find that out?
Answerthis light (So I slowed down and that is when my engine light came on ) I need the code to see what is the issue.
From what u are saying but with out the codes from the computer I am only guessing. I would say u have bad speed sensors not a safety switch. Any auto parts store should read the codes for u for free call around get the codes for me and we can fix your car =)
