Dodge Repair: 98 Intrepid ES stalls while running, ballast resistor, battery cables

Question
QUESTION: I have a 98 Dodge Intrepid ES 3.2.  The car starts and runs fine then will just shut off like it was turned off.  it sometimes starts right back up, other times it may take several minutes.  I received a P1684 & P1685 code but, the garage cannot get a code to show when they test it.  I was told it was a ballast resister, the BCM or a bad wire.  Can you tell what i should check or fix first?  Where is the ballast resister on my intrepid?  i thought they were taken out in the mid 80's?  Where should i begin in fixing my car?  Thanks for your help.

ANSWER: never heard of a ballast resistor.  1684 is battery disconnect  and 1685 is invalid skim key. DO u have a gray key ?? if yes  then u might have a bad key, skim issue or something along that  line. A dealer needs to check this out no after market shop has assess to key info like that only Chrysler.

QUESTION: How much does it cost to to have the skim invalid key problem fixed?  Is this what is causing the car to just stop as if somebody turned it off?  What causes an skim invalid key error code?  A mechanic checked the battery cables and did not see a problem.  if i was in the Atlanta area i would give you call.  unfortunately, i'm in upstate NY.

Answer
I cant tell u how much something is going to be  I dont know whats wrong with it. could be the key,the module, wires, all together something different  to many passable things to name and guess at. THe battery would have nothing to do with this.
The skim is the next generation anti theft stuff  no need for an alarm if the car wont run with out the correct key  right?
