Dodge Repair: dodge neon manual tranny, dodge neons, clutch replacement

Question
ok, so, i have had 4 dodge neons in my life, with no major problems, one with 208,000 miles at the time i sold it. one thing i noticed tho, two of them, a 95 and now my 97, with manual transmissions.  well, when the car is idling the transmission makes a rattling sound, the sound goes away when the clutch is pressed in.  the only time u can here it is when u are idling in neutral, i am just wondering what this noise is, it doeesnt seem to affect anything, other then embarrassing me when i start up my car, so if this is a simple fix i'd like to fix it, please heelp, thanx

Answer
clutch release bearing is what you hear.........it is either making slight contact with the pressure plate or the bearing itself is "dry" ............it will continue this until it quits......you have that option or pulling the transmission out and replacing it; will it last until time for a clutch replacement ??? maybe maybe not
