Dodge Repair: blinking a/c and rear wiper lights, hvac system, battery change

Question
I did a alternator and battery change and afterwards the a/c and rear wiper lights started continuously blinking (4 lights). Is there another problem? If not, how do I stop these lights from blinking?

Answer
This is a simple fix.  By replacing the battery or even just disconnecting it you've allowed the HVAC controls to lose their memory and the blinking lights tells you so.  There is a possibility that it's picking up a problem as well but I won't go in to that side of things until after you do a quick recalibration and report back your findings.

You'll have to tell the HVAC system to recalibrate itself and this is very simple and requires no tools.

Make sure a/c has not been run within the last hour or so otherwise you will get a false reading for part of this test.

Set the blower motor on high
set the mode position to panel
open all the a/c outlets
Set the temperature to cold (both sliders if you have them)
press Wash and rear wiper button at the same time and hold for 5 seconds.

All your LED's will turn on for 5 seconds.  The test is running when the rear wiper and intermittant wipe LEDs are flashing back and forth.  The cooldown test will run when the a/c and recirculation LEDs flash back and forth.

During this process you will hear doors opening and closing, temperatures changing back and forth.  The doors for you HVAC system are electronically controlled by motors.  When you disconnect the battery they sometimes forget where they stopped at.  This test will operate all the doors from one extreme to the other so they can relearn their ranges.

Let me know what you find.
