Dodge Repair: 98 Dodge Durango Over Heat, dodge durango, 20 bucks

Question
1998 D.Durango 180K - I had an engine overheat and it blew a hose.  After having the hose/WaterPump rep.  I had a problem with the heat rising to a level to set off the check engine Light so ... I replaced the thermostat and did a radiator flush.  Same problem.  It will rise to set off the light and then drop within a few seconds back to/or close to normal op. temp. This process repeats itself often 1x/~2min.  On highway driving it doesn't seem to do this.  (note:towed a jeep for 1100 mi. no problems)  Bum Therm?, sensor?, ? any thoughts - Thanx for your help GG

Answer
sounds like trapped air the the cooling system
it needs to be filled from the highest position of the cooling system not the reservoir
if you are unsuccessful then the dealer has a special pump to remove the air
