Dodge Repair: is there a fuel pump reset switch on a 2000?, dodge stratus, reset switch

Question
I have a 2000 Dodge Stratus with less than 30,000 miles. I filled it with gas and parked it and left town for a week. When I got home it will not start, it turns over, but won't start. Someone suggested the fuel pump, which they said is a hard and expensive job, since its in the gas tank. Would the fuel pump go out like that without warning? When we tapped the gas tank with a mallet, it started. We started it up the next couple days, now it will not start again. Is there a fuel pump reset switch on a 2000? Any ideas? Thanks for any suggestions!
