Dodge Repair: 1998 Dodge Durango, inner tie rods, dodge durango

Question
Mr. Lacey,
I am writing for some advice.  My wife and I have recently purchased a 1998 Dodge Durango with over 99,000 miles on it.  The first evening we got the vehicle home, the rear hatch would not open.  The next day we took it in and the dealer who sold us the car, was able to open it and the problem was solved.  (It just needed lubrication.)  Then the transmission began to leak.  We took it in to the Jeep Delership we bought it from and the corrected the problem free of charge.  On the way in to get it fixed, I noticed the ABS and brake light were on and stayed on.  The dealership forgot about the brake problem so my wife and I had to stick around for them to tell me that they were having trouble getting the diagnostic machine hooked up.  Finally they told me that the bus needs to be replaced.  Thinking this was shady, my wife and I went to the local Dodge dealership and asked them to look at it.  The Dodge delaership said that it was not the bus, but rather the rear sensor probably needed replaced.  Apparently on thier diagnostic machine, our of the five codes their mechanic had never seen.  (We were not provided a copy of the codes which came up.)  They also told us that the brakes needed flushing (which could wait a while), the inner tie rods need tightened, the transmission was discolored (not too sure what this means), the rear pinion seal leaks, and some of the ball joints need replaced.  The mechanic at the Dodge Dealership said this vehicle did not meet the requirements Dodge puts out for resaling of a used vehicle.  We have had this vehicle for about two weeks and really like it.  Can you tell me if these problems are common to the Durango?  Do you know of any standards that Jeep or Dodge requirs of used vehicles to be resold?  Is this vehicle safe to drive in your opinion?  PLease provide any other information you may feel would help us get this vehicle repaired or help us get our money back.  Thank you for your time and asistance.
