Dodge Repair: 92 Caravan 3L floods, new distributor cap, bosch platinum

Question
Hello Justin, When cold, the van starts well.  But after running for 5 or 10 minutes and shutting it off and restarting, it won't start or if it does, it runs really rough and you can smell gas. If it doesn't start right away, I push the peddle to the floor and it starts. Sometimes I have to do this 2 or 3 times before it idles ok.
This problem is intermittent-sometimes it starts ok even when hot.
I checked the fault codes and got 12, 22, 17 which have nothing to do with fuel system faults.
Once vehicle is running, it works fine (recently I took it on a 230 mile trip with absolutely no problems.). (167,000 miles on van)
Any help much appreciated! Thanks

Answer
Sounds like you need a tune-up. This means you need a new distributor cap, spark plugs, wires, and possibly a distributor. I reccomend running hotter spark plugs also, such as Bosch Platinum 4's. When you change the plugs, take them ALL out and crank the engine over a few times, this will dry the cylinders out and clean out any stale gas left in them. Hope this helps!
