Dodge Repair: transmission, dodge caravan, handiman

Question
Hello Pete,
I have a '96 Dodge Caravan, 3.3L engine.  I had a leak up under the hood and took it in to a dealership.  They put dye in the system to see where it was coming from, as well as a slew of other leaks.  I was told to wait at least 10 days for the dye to take and so taday I took it back in.  They told me the leak of first priority for us to fix was the solenoid for the transmission and that the it had to be replaced. She told me that it would cost approx. $440 parts, labor, fluids, and taxes.  I was wondering if this part is something that a semi-handiman can get to, or would he have to tear apart the tranny and have all sorts of special tools to get to this part?what is your opion?
