Dodge Repair: 97 Dodge Neon Dies, dodge neon, fly wheel

Question
My wife has a 97 dodge neon, with about 50K miles.  Earlier in the week the oil light came on. She pulled over, stopped the care, plenty of oil.  Started the car, the oil light did not come back on.  Driving the car into town, the engine died at a light.  Had to have the car towed to a shop.  After sitting for a while, the car started up 5 times.  When the shop tried on the 6th time, it would not start.  Oil pressure was tested, all within specs.   The shop thinks that a motor bearing is going out and wants to replace the motor.  Other 'non-shop' folks think that there is an electrical problem.  When trying to start the motor, the display panel lights up, but no starter noise, nothing.  Your feedback will be appreciated as this may result in a very expensive decision being made.

Thanks,

Answer
hello garry
this does not sound like a motor bearing when a bearing is bad they size and never turn over . you can hot wire the starter from the bat. or you can remove the starter and see if you can turn the fly wheel if does not turn then it is the motor pete
