Question - Made the checks steve and i do not have power to the coil. So this took me to the computer, because when making test by touching the relay wires and the computer wire that connect the relay to the fuel pump the pump runs. I am performing these test with a test light for power. What do you think I should do next?
Dodge Dakota 1994......I replaced the intank fuel pump and fuel relay fuse engine will not start and the fuel pump will not automatically run also checked fuse inside fuse panel all checks were good cannot find circuit problem help please?

Vernon,
The truck has a ASD Relay. This stands for auto shut down . The relay has four wires going to id the green/Black wire feeds the coil and fuel pump. Check this wire at the coil and see if you have power. if so the check the harness from the fuel pump back to the relay. if you do not have power on the coil the problem is the relay or the computer.

Answer
Check to make sure that you have a good ground and a good 12 volts at the fuel pump.  If you do then the pump is bad.

If not then the problem is between the relay and the pump in the harness somewhere. this is where you just have to trace the wires and find the break.
