Dodge Repair: Automatic Cut off switch?, dodge neon, shrader valve

Question
Im having a problem with my 1997 Dodge Neon...i have been told it could be a range of things, from the fuel pump to the fan. It will go 5-10 miles or so before the rpms begin to fluxuate and drop under 1k. Once that happens the engine will shut off and it will not start for another 40 min to an hour. I have been told by a friend that there some kind of tempature guage connected to the fan the cuts the fuel flow to the engine to cut it off, or that it cuts it off in some fashion or other as a saftey measure. I called some other mechanics and was told they had never heard of such a thing, but my friend and my father both insist that this thing is the problem. So does the Neon have this kind of feature? Or do my friend and father simply not know what they are talking about?

Answer
No.  No such thing is in your car.

Some other makes use  something like that but not dodge.

You may want to look at the fuel pump  or the cam sensor
Both would give you the problem that you are having.

The fuel pump should have presure on the fuel rail at all times  If you look on the fuel rail you will see a shrader valve.  Push the valve down with a pen or something and see if you are getting fuel.  if so the you may want to try the cam sensor.  if no presure then put a fuel pump in it.
