Dodge Repair: brakes, disc brake pads, wheel bearings

Question
2001 Dodge Caravan, replaced front disc brake pads 6 months ago, and had rotors turned at same time. The van has had a growling noise before and still after the repairs, and the brakes lock up on hard braking. The rear brake shoes still are in good shape. You can hear and feel a vibration thru the brake pedal, not a shutter or pulse. Could this be an abs problem? Is so , advise to the repair of this brake system, I am a fair mechanic, but have never worked on abs systems. Thanks for any help.

Answer
The problem sounds more like a calipar sticking.  Drive the van untill you hear the noise and then jack the front wheels up , see if then seam to be draging. Also check the rotors and see if they have a blue tent to them , if so they are getting hot . another sigh that the front brakes are locking up.

If the wheels turn good and no sigh of heat then you may want to look at the axles or wheel bearings, most abs problems will not give this problem. plus the abs light would be on if a pump of computer was at fault.
