Dodge Repair: Car cuts out whe applying gas., valve cover gasket, dodge daytona

Question
88 Dodge Daytona, 2.2 Auto tranny. 120,000 miles Two problems
One is the car cuts out when applying pressure to the gas pedel.  Out of frustration, flooring the gas pedel does not help, this even delays the response further. The car has stalled in traffic refusing to start. After being towed the car ran without stalling the problem will not duplicate itself when needed. It will idle at around 800 to 1000 rpm's on warm day buy will occasionly stall during cold weather. The car is not very responsive when the engine is under load.
Second problem is the Valve cover is leaking oil.  I Had a the auto repair shop work on which stoped the problem for awhile but the proble has reoccoured.

Answer
Sounds like the pick up coil under the distribtor is starting to fail.  Remove the cap and rotor buton and replace the pickup coil.

As far as the valve cover gasket you need only silicone and the end seals .Dont use a cork or rubber gasket.
It was made to use just a beed of silicone to seal it.
