Dodge Repair: Dodge Neon 95, Timing Belt, dodge neon, gear puller

Question
My mechanic just told me that he cannot fix the timing belt on my dodge neon95 because the "crank" or something of that sort...is welded to the engine and cannot be removed. Is it possible that the car is just badly manufactured or is my mechanic mistaken?

Answer
Chris,

The crank is not welded in a normal car . unless someone has done this you should be able to remove the crank sprocket. you will need a crank gear puller. it sounds like you mechanic just may be in a little over his head. find a mechanic who has done this job before and let them do it.

Good luck,
Steve
