Dodge Repair: Power loss light, aries, deb

I just recently purchased an 86' dodge aries 2.5 litres 4 cyl and now the power loss button is coming on...I turned the ignition on,off,on,off,and on and got the code 24..what does this mean and is it an expensive repair..Thanks for your time..Deb

this sounds like a bad alt or reg the reg is in the compuiter. on this car start the car up and then remove pos cable off the bat. if the car stays runing then it is not the alt. if dies then the alt is bad . sorry but i do not use the codes the car reads out . let me know how u make out . good luck to u hun and u have a pretty name pete
