Dodge Repair: dodge ram pickup will not idle, dodge d150, dodge ram

Question
I have a 1985 dodge d150. has served me well since i bought it new. it has a 5.2/381, 2bbl, 2wd, at.  I dfon't use it much anymore just to haul home improvemnt/garden supplies etc. the last ime I drove it I had a problem with it starts and drives fine. but about 10 min after it warms up it stops ideling. it will run as lonng as i keep my foot on the accelerator. I though it might be the choke heater/thermostat. but now I doon't think thats it I started it today and the butter valve on the carburator seemed to be woorking fine . it was closed when i started and slowly opened as the engine warmed up. I drove it a few miles and it started exhibiting the same symptoms I described in the beginning of this message. Would you please give me an idea where to start checking?  I hope you can help me out with this problem. any thing would be appreciated
Thanks john
