Dodge Repair: 1999 plymouth neon brake noise, plymouth neon, rear brakes

Question
Hi.
I have a 99 plymouth neon and my rear brakes make loud squeaking noises when I apply them. The noise is louder when I start driving and after a while although it goes down, it's still there a lot. I don't feel any loss of brake performance though and my dealer says it's probably moisture. He also says chrysler neons have brake noise problems. Is this true?
What are my repair options?
Thanks,
Jamshed

Answer
Neons do have some noise, but what I would do is this,,
1. Remove the rear tires, and inspect the brakes, if they look okay, pick up some brake cleaner, and clean the hubs, and the brakes.. Sometimes, dirt/ect gets in their and will make noise.. Also, if the shoes look worn, like right down to the metal, I would change them.. Make sure you do both sides,, not just one... TY....
