Eagle Repair: Alternator Belt, haynes manual, eagle talon

Question
I have a 1993 Eagle Talon (1.8L V-4) and the alterator belt broke while driving. If I bought a new belt, can it be put on by an mechanical novice or should I take it to the repair shop?  Also, after I boost the car can it be driven to the repair shop (without further damage) or should I just have it towed?
Thanks,

Answer
The belt can be easily replaced by a novice mechanic, go to your parts store and purchase a Haynes manual which will give you the procedure on how you can replace it.

As far as boosting is concerned,
IF you decide to change the belt yourself, you MUST charge the battery, boosting will damage your alternator.

IF you boost the battery for the sake of driving it to the repair shop, you will do it many times as the battery will drain very quickly.

Hope this helps!
