Ford Repair: Ford focus 2001, driveability concerns, expert construction

Question
QUESTION: as a fellow expert (construction based) I figure this best place to ask
Have a 2001 ford focus, today i went to start it and got a loud clicking noise from motor area, got car home and checked oil, had lots on dip stick but also have some dripping profusely under car now, the noise sounded like valves, but when looked underneath it oil was only from below the oil filter and down, not mechanically inclined and not sure what it could be, actually the noise sounded like the heat shield on front of motor rattling around, please help me, the repairs, i can do most of them just not very good at diagnosing the problems, any suggestions would be great

ANSWER: i know this is gonna sound dum but, have you changed the filter recently ??? reason being i've ran in to this. the filter way over due and the oil pressure build and has no where eles to go but out ie.. you lose oil pressure. get back to me and we'll work it out

QUESTION: no loss in oil pressure, but not sure about filter, a youtube video indicates the timing chain from the noise as it started suddenly, could this be a possible overlap with noise and oil?  I was thinking it could have been the valves too but not sure as no loss in power, it has me totally baffled with the symtoms i have described

Answer
can you see at this point where the oil is dripping from ?? There are only two possibilities for a profuse leak, the front crank seal or the rear main. unless the oil filter is clogged. problem is, your vehicle doen't have a timing chain- it has a belt. if the oil isn't reaching the top of the engine- you'll get the loud tick. other problem though.. is this engine was known to drop valve seats out of the cylinder head which also wouls cause that all of a sudden tick but, you have driveability concerns
