Ford Repair: 2011 Ford Explorer xlt, creating rust, damp weather

Question
Hello

I recently purchased an 2011 ford explorer lxt. it was used with 20k miles on it. i have had it for a month or so and a few problems exsist.

first the air conditioning unit has a smell coming out of it, only lasts for 1 minute once it is in use than it stops. i cant explain it, part musty part something else. what could this be? what should i look to for diagnosis? is this normal on this vehicle?

the breaks whistle when i stop, started shortly after purchase. was thinking it might of sat on lot for a while and not driven much creating rust, but still has not gone away. the care was bought from a dealer and inspected prior to purchase so how could the breaks be bad already? or is it something else?

thanks

Answer
i've done some checking with ford's website. Yuor heating concern is not uncommon, especially if it goes away after a minute. it's just moisture build up. as far as the noise from the brakes. Some noise the first once or twice when the brakes are applied in damp weather is not uncommon but if your having the noise all the time. I suggest you bring it where you bought it as this is not normal.
