Ford Repair: adding freon, schraeder valve, freon

on the lowside where you connect the hose, the fitting facing up where the hose connects has nothing to press against the hose fitting to release the freon out the can. its a 1996 ford explorer 5.0. is something missing?

so you are able to connect the hose ??? the low side fitting is the smaller of the two, looking at it. you probably won't see the schraeder valve. once you connect the hose from the can, the nozzle from the can should twist in the release the freon from the can. if you could take a picture of the connector on the car if that's what your having the problem with and send it ?
