Ford Repair: 2000 Ford F-150, ford f 150, fuse panel

Question
It was running fine when parked, it set for 2 days in the rain, got in it and cranked it and it sputtered a little. I went down the road about a half a mile and it sputtered again and quit, while towing it home a puff of light smoke came from the passenger side where the side of the dash meets the windshield, removed the computer and it smelled burnt. I replaced the computer and it still wont crank. Is there something else I need to do or check?

Answer
your going to want to check the g.e.m. module, it is located on the back of the fuse panel. it controls 50 % of what your vehicle does, the pass side smoke, your correct is a burnt pcm caused by a shorted g.e.m. on the driver's side that got wet from rain ( very common in this year ) after replacing the g.e.m. bring it to your local dealer, they will know the process for reinitializing the vehicle ( dealer item only, sorry :(  )
also, have your winshield resealed, it's leaking into the pass.compartment, you just can't see it !!!!! thats what caused this
