Ford Repair: 2010 ford focus, ford service, ford focus

Question
We just bought a 2010 ford focus in September of last year. it has roughly 45,000 miles. We had it at the ford service center last week and they replaced the timing shaft and water pump. When we got the car back the engine is now making a pinging noise and it is idling very high. We can be sitting at a redlight and the rpm's will jump up to 2 or 3 without touching the gas. Ford told us it was more of a noise problem then anything to worry about. We are starting to think they are wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Answer
thye did either of two things, maybe both. if, when setting the engine timing- it was off a tooth, it will advance your timing to the point it will cause a high idle and pining concern.. yes, something is wrong- bring it back as mechanical damage will occur !!!
