Ford Repair: 2002 ford taurus se: the check oil light is on, engine oil pressure, worst case scenario

Question
QUESTION: Ok so I have a 2002 ford Taurus se... It has 176,389 miles on it. Yesterday I put in some oil to fill it up.. But I guess I put too much in and started choking it. So I did an oil change new filter and new oil.. But now the light is still on and my car jerks while im driving? What caused my oil light to stay on after I changed the oil? And what is causing my car to jerk on me while im driving? Also my car now sounds like an 18 wheeler. I would really appreciate your help, thank you.

ANSWER: my first question is, how low was the oil actually when you added some.

QUESTION: It was only at the middle mark of the dipstick.

Answer
first, your gonna need to drive it hard. with having too much oil you most likely fould out the spark plugs as well as pushed some out the exhaust valves and into the exhaust. the jerking feeling is the spark plugs miss firing, this will clear. the unfortunate part is not sure why the oil light is on. if the oil is at the correct level that only leaves three options. one, a bad level sensor in the pan, or a faulty pressure sensor. worst case scenario is actual low engine oil pressure. curious though. does the oil light go out as the engine's rpm's increase ?
