Ford Repair: 2004 Ford Focus, obd scanner, trasmission

Question
Hi, Brian I have a 2004 Ford Focus zts it is sedan. The car is having issues with the trasmission. It slips when in first gear and won't shift into 2nd unless I take my foot off the gas pedal. It shifts hard when going into 3rd, and the o/d off light is flashing.I checked the fluid level, and it seems fine. The fluid is bright red and smells ok.I also plugged in my cheap obd scanner, and it didn't bring up any codes. The car only has 77,000 miles. Does this sound like it could be an easy fix? Are there any sensors, solenoids, or other easy fixes that can cause this problem? Any help with this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
Hello, good news and some not so good. This was not an uncommon concern for the focus. unfortunatley, you will either have to bring it to your local dealer or transmission shop. most likely what is happening is there are multiple solenoids located internal to the transmission that are either shorted or sticking causing this concern. I'd love to tell you this is something you can fix yourself. Hope this helps and happy new year.. -b-
