Ford Repair: auto repair, ford van, steel hose

Question
i have a 1999 e150 4.6 liter ford van. under the intake is a water line. mine had rusted and got a crack in it so i cut the bad spot off replaced it with a rubber hose and clamps but want to know if it will last. i dont know how much preasure that line gets and i cant afford a new one.do you think this will leak or will it last for me a while

Answer
Kenneth, I cannot comment on long the rubber hose will last since I don't know the specifics about the hose you used.  However, If I assume you used a typical auto water hose, it should last for awhile, a year or so.  I would recommend that you invest into a braided steel hose, which last a long time and able to handle the heat.  In the mean time, I recommend that you regularly check the rubber hose of signs of cracks and wear.  Thanks!
