Ford Repair: Power door locks, A/C, blower motor resistor, gage wire

Question
QUESTION: Hello, I have two issues with my 2000 Crown Vic LX (V8).
1. The power door locks (all doors) and keyless system (key fob and touch pad on door) stopped working. Fuses are ok and there is power at the door lock.

2. The A/C fan runs erratically High then Low even when the fan speed dial is set to Low. It pretty much stays High, eventually it settles down to Low after a good period of time.

Any suggestions how to correct the two issues noted above?

Thanks for your help.

ANSWER: the [problem with your door lock is most likely you lost the ground.. looking at the drivers door between the hinge you will see where harness goes into door. pull back this rubber covering. you'll see multiple wires. pull on each one of them. most likely you'll find there is a black or blue heavy gage wire is broken. as far as your a/c fan, are you speaking of the one in the car or for the radiator???? if your speaking about the one in the car. replace your blower motor resistor. located near the blower motor under the hood.

QUESTION: Hi, regarding the door lock issue I checked the ground wires to all the switches on the drivers side door (door lock and window switch). I checked the ground for the power windows just for grins eventhough they work ok. I inserted a probe next to the black wire, clipped on my test light to it and with the other end touched a known hot fuse. The test light glowed proving a good ground wire. Any other thoughts/ideas on this?

I also located the blower fan resistor under the heater hoses going into the fire wall. I'll tackle that tomorrow. There is not alot of room to work with to remove the resistor but at least I htink I found it so I'll get to it.

Thanks again,
JG

Answer
the door locks, don't remember because of the year but, remove  the driver's door panel if you haven't already. see if there is a black box located on the lower right of the door. if there is one this is the dirver's door module. unplug it. wait 20 seconds and plug it back in. see if this works.  if there isn't one let me know
