Ford Repair: 3.0 L DOHC Plug Change, throttle body coolant, coolant tubes

Question
2004 Sable Duratec 3.0  plug change, the factory manual details removal of the upper intake manifold to get access to the rear plugs.  In step 6 the manual says to disconnect the heated throttle body coolant tubes.  Does the radiator have to be drained to prevent coolant from coming out of the disconnected tubes?  The factory manual does not mention this.  Thank you.

Answer
no, you don't have to drain coolant, if you have a heated throttle body, just clamp off the two small lines going two it. personally, connected to the upper intake is a few sensors and vacuum lines. disconnect these. remove the two 10mm bolts holding the egr to the intake. disconnect air hose going to throttle body, remove the 6-8, 8mm bolts holding upper intake in place and suspend the intake with a bungee chord. complete removal is not really needed. let me know if this helps.. take care and happy holidays. -b-
