Ford Repair: Car goes dead, auto part store, alternator problem

Question
2005 Ford Focus goes dead (stops running)he does accept a jump and starts, but soon stops. Is this a alternator problem?

Answer
Fred, it could be an alternator problem (most likely).  To check it, have the battery tested at a local auto part store. If is good but shows a low charge, then it is the alternator.  If it is bad, then change the battery. Once changed, continue to monitor the battery and have it tested again in a week or two, to insure that the alternator is charging it proberly. Otherwise, the alternator would need to be changed.  Thanks!
