Ford Repair: battery mishap - new problems, blown fuses, ford escape

the set up: wife batter was bad.  went to jump off 2001 ford escape.  wife talking, me not paying attention, put the cables on her car backwards (a no no).  my battery started smoking and cables got hot before correcting, jumped battery off and went to get a new one.

NOW the auto locks don't work, the radio doesn't work and the interior lights don't work.  would it be just the fuses or did i really screw up by being distracted with "what she said about so and so" conversation....

Hello Wes, check to see if there are any blown fuses 1st.There is a possiblity damage was done to the radio and the gem module for power locks. Next time please be more careful for your safety, a battery can explode if conditions are right. Maybe your wife should hook the cables up...sorry my humor. Thanks Tony
