Ford Repair: 2003 Ford Taurus SES, ford taurus, possiblities

Question
Hello. My Taurus has 118K miles and tranny has never been serviced. I noticed several weeks ago it started dumping or burping transmission fluid out at different times. For example, today after sitting overnight, I pulled the car out of my garage into the driveway and turned it off. I immediately noted a large puddle of transmission fluid under my car. It does not appear to be leaking at all on a continuous basis and their are no signs of leaks on the floor until this dump happens. It has done it several times but seems to drive and shift gears ok. I have added fluid as needed and not overfilled. What do you think could be the problem? Thanks very much for your help.

Answer
Hello Phillip, It is possible it maybe there is a frt pump seal leaking, may have pressure building up causing it to come out of the vent at the top, possible trans cooler line leaking from a fitting. Those are a few possiblities. There is a dye available that can be put into the trans and ran for a week, then checked for leaks with a black light. Hope this helps Thanks Tony
