Ford Repair: 1987 Ford Club Wagon XLT tlc, ford club wagon, mile road trip

Question
Here we go, my old van has 3 issues.
1) starting and staying running in mornings, particularly cold and wet-heard
it could be distributor and points?
2) oil leak- not a seep, it's coming from the bottom-not good
3) transmission is funny-took 13,000 mile road trip with this thing last year
(when I got it) down shifting up hills was a huge issue-old mechanic of mine
in Bozeman, Montana "tinkered with the transmission" and it was great for
another 10,000 miles. Now it has the same issue and a helluva time speeding
up in general. I don't even know where to check the transmission fluid in this
thing. Hopefully it's that or a "valve"?
Please any advice from you or a refferal would be great. However, I'm a tight
ass, tighter than usual in this economy.

Answer
Hello Mick, well I don't rightly know to where I should begin. The 1st concern could be a dist. cap, module on the side of the dist. the oil leak ? Oil pan, rear main seal, frt timing cover, frt crank seal. Transmission could possibly a
broken snap ring inside the drum or one of
gears. You're probaly just going to have to get a starting point .  Hope
this helps. Thanks Tony.
