Ford Repair: Ford fuel system, dual fuel tanks, fuel pumps

Question
I have a 1990 F-150 with dual fuel tanks. I only use the rear tank because the selector switch is broken. Recently the front tank has started leaking from the pump opening, the front tank was nearly empty when I quit using it. Is it possible that fuel is being trsnsffered from the rear tank to the front tank? If so how do I correct this?

                   Thanks

Answer
Hello Tom , yes it is probaly trasferring from one tank to another, there are check valves inside the fuel pumps and they will fail causing the concern. The pump or pumps will need to be replaced to correct the concern or just use 1 tank. I hope this helps you out. Thanks Tony
