Ford Repair: Filling gas tank

Ford Explorer 2002 V8. I can not fill the tank with gas unless I stand there and let the gas trickle in, or the pump shuts off, like it would do if it were full. ONly it is not.

Hello Tonya, It is possible there is a restriction for the fuel tank filler neck vent or the cannister where the fuel vapors go to. Since I work at a dealer I know a dealer can perform testing to see if there is a restriction. Thant is where i would start 1st. Hope this helps Thanks Tony
