Ford Repair: 2006 Ford Escape V-6, dashboard lights, 2006 ford escape

I messed up, Please help!!! A few days ago i woke up in the morning went out to my 2006 Ford Escape V-6 SUV and got a hard tapping sound and shaking from the engine. I turned off the car quickly and have not touched it since, just leaving it where it was. The day before the car had been running fine no sounds, no dashboard lights. I had it towed to the dealership,and now  they tell me that the engine is tapping from the engine no oil. My question is how bad can the damage be, and what could the possible problem and cost?

Hello Amanda, The 1st question is why there is no oil in the engine. Have they performed fresh oil change with filter as part of diagnostics to see if it is noisy with oil in it ? Has it had a service very recently and oil was not put back in? Let me know Thanks Tony
