Ford Repair: parking brake, independent shop, rotor

Question
Hi.
i have a 2002 explorer and the e-brake does not work. when i purchased it 8 months ago i watched them put new rotors and pad on. i never used it before but my brakes have gone soft and someone told my the e-brake doesnt function correctly.

Answer
your park brake is inside the rear rotor in the form of shoes-you have what we call a hat rotor-shoes on inside of hat and pads on outside of rotor-have it check out by someone who does brake work preferebly a trustworthy independent shop and not a chain store promising 100 per axle thing. good luck.
